Recently in an advertise for Its flaghship smartphone P9, Huewei used a beautiful portrait photo which has beautiful back light. All the details in the photos look so good. Even the shadow sections have very good details. The highlight on the hairs look so beautiful with warm color tone. That photo raises some questions when many professional could not believe that was shoot by a smartphone.

As you can see that the photo has a very shallow Depth-of-field and the tonal range is very large that a smartphone can not handle and can not be shoot by a smartphone camera like Huewei P9. When some photographers try to check the photos to see its exif, it reveals that the photo was shot by an EOS 5D Mark III and a professional telephoto 70-200 F2.8 Lens.

This is the caption that written by Hueweit implying that the photo was taken by its smartphone P9:

“The #HuaweiP9’s dual Leica cameras makes taking photos in low light conditions like this a pleasure”.

After being criticsized on social media the chinese manufacturer has deleted its photo which misled customers to think that it was taken by Huewei smartphone. After that they write and statement to apology like this:

“the photo, which was professionally taken while filming a Huawei P9 advert, was shared to inspire our community. We recognize though that we should have been clearer with the captions for this image. It was never our intention to mislead. We apologize for this and we have removed the image.”

It’s not the first incident that happens with this chinese manufacturer and it may not the last.
